TIME PLAYED is a micro-budget film created in concept and produced by Maria Askedal. It is a 2 minute twisted thriller that attempts and succeeds in creating an eerie sinister setting. Maria Askedal shows her proficiency of writing and directing by creating a haunting thriller while retaining its originality. Maria Askedal and Jordi Colom play the leads.
The story unfolds in the eyes of the viewer merely through action. The action and camera work oust the need of a dialogue. The story seems clear enough, but the point of view of the protagonist Jordi Colom seems to suggest an altered reality.
The performance of the actors Maria Askedal and Jordi Colom stand out, although the choice of premise is questionable. The setting is a window into the film’s offbeat destination. The scenes transition smoothly and sustain the mood of the movie. The sound level is skillfully varied for effect when the element of surprise is required.
A very compelling movie where horror seems to come from the fears lurking inside our minds. In a sense , the protagonist is trapped in his own nightmare. The ending is rather abrupt and leave the viewers with a feeling of dread just the way fear is communicated in a nightmare.
