Nightmare – Review

Nightmare – Short Film Review - Indie Shorts Mag

Ever had a nightmare? Do you remember how strange and creepy it was? Well, this film follows a nightmare of a young man who is trying hard to get out of this creepy situation where a strange woman wearing a “burkha” slaps him to another level of the dream where a butcher cuts off the head of the dreamer after which he again ends up in front of the strange woman in a “burkha”. The story is engaging and keeps you to the edge of your seat. This gripping and creepy short film is a great entertainer.

Initially, the story seems to be a flashback of a serial killing but when the events repeat, it makes you sit and watch the whole film to know what happens next.

The dream world created in this film is dark and sinister. It shows the dreamer struggling through his own mind and trying various strategies to get out of the odd situation he is stuck in. And when finally he does, then, the story reveals its secret. The execution of the dream to look like a dark one has been very well done. Overall, the story has been well executed by the director, Nihar Palwe.

He has done a brilliant job writing and directing the story. Writing a nightmare must have not been that easy. It is very admirable that he was able to create such an environment for the film that people could really believe that it was a dream. Adith Anande has done a great job producing such a music which just adds to the creepiness of the film and makes it more thrilling. The thing about dreams is their sudden continuity which has been brilliantly edited in the film by Adith Anande.

Christy Johnson as the dreamer has done a wonderful job in portraying the actual feelings of a dreamer which gives more depth to the film and on the other hand, the supporting characters played by Saurabh Sharma as the butcher and Neha Salgare as the woman in “burkha” have complemented the lead character with their brilliantly performed roles.

What makes the film so special is the continuity of the scenes which makes the audience believe that it is actually a dream. The concept is good and well weaved into a short thriller film which makes it a must watch for all the viewers.
