SENSES takes off with Zoe, the protagonist of the film lying on a tattered mattress reminiscing old times. He thinks about how different his life used to be once and how different it is now. The turmoil inside him is depicted through a series of flashbacks. Zoe narrates how, owing to a terrible tragedy he has lost everything in life. His wife, his son, even himself. He remembers all that has been lost to keep going on with his life even though he is now a despondent man, devoid of the strength and will to continue with his life and hopes that each day would be his last.
The story-line is all that is there in the film apart from acting and cinematography. The story really touches your heart and lets you relate to it. Acting, music and camera work are all in sync. The acting is very much commendable. It gives a boost to the story. Music is nice and subtle, sets the mood for the film. Camera work is somewhat simple. It visualizes everything through the protagonist’s eyes. This helps the audience to relate to him.
Overall, Director Jose Vega has compiled a decent film with an emotional story that really reaches out to the audience. With all the other ingredients perfect and Vega’s impeccable direction, SENSES is definitely worth a one time watch!
